Why Us?
Youth Ministry & Social Justice
Youth Ministry
Youth Ministry is at the heart of our college community and offers students a vibrant and faith-filled space to grow spiritually, serve others, and build meaningful relationships.
Guided by a passionate team of leaders, students participate in diverse activities that foster fellowship, social justice, and community outreach. This ministry not only cultivates a strong sense of belonging but also empowers young people to become confident, compassionate leaders who live out the Gospel in their everyday lives. It is a place where faith comes alive through service, reflection, and community. Students have the opportunity to participate in youth events such as World Youth Day, the Australian Catholic Youth Festival, the Ignite Youth Conference, and Connect Catholic Coasties.
Social Justice
At St Joseph’s, as a Catholic College, we embrace the challenge of sharing the Church’s social mission. Our social justice education equips students with the knowledge and skills to identify the roots of inequality and advocate for transformative change.
Guided by the Gospels of Jesus Christ, the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, and inspired by the life and work of Mary MacKillop, our commitment to social justice is both profound and action oriented.
Social Justice action at St Joseph’s includes:
- The work of a weekly Social Justice Group (JJAMM) that is open to all students at the college
- Students volunteering locally at Coast Shelter, Vinnies Breakfasts and Mary Macs
- Participation in immersion experiences in Life out West (Central West NSW) Timor Leste and India.
- Fundraising for Caritas, Mary MacKillop Today, Catholic Mission etc.
At St Joseph’s, social justice is not just something we teach—it’s something we live, inspiring our students to walk with others in solidarity and love. Guided by the example of Mary MacKillop, we encourage our young women to embrace opportunities that deepen their faith and commitment to making a difference. The experiences we offer allow our students to encounter Christ, celebrate their faith with peers, and grow as compassionate leaders who seek justice and hope for all.
