Library
The St Joseph’s Catholic College Library is a welcoming and vibrant facility that is the learning and teaching hub of the college. It provides access to a comprehensive physical and digital collection of resources, supporting the information needs of staff and students.
The physical space provides a range of learning environments including:
- collaborative learning areas
- individual study carrels in the quiet zone – perfect for exam preparation
- the Central Library zone for wide reading
- the Library Classroom for teaching and quite study
- the Seminar Rooms for small classes and small group work
The digital collection includes access to a wide range of online subscription resources, including eBooks, newspapers, videos, databases, encyclopedia and online bibliographic generators. LibGuides is the access point for the virtual library and provides 24/7 access. The print collection of approximately 22,000 resources includes a wide selection of both fiction and non-fiction titles. Non-fiction titles support the curriculum and include a wide range of HSC study materials. The impressive fiction collection includes classic, popular and new-release fiction titles across all genres, in print, eBook and eAudio formats.
The teacher librarian works with faculties to plan and teach information skills to students in a range of contexts, developing 21st century digital fluency abilities. The teacher librarian also promotes literature and wide reading programs such as the Joey’s Reading Cup, encouraging a love of reading while developing the literacy skills of students.
Library Opening Hours
Monday to Friday: 8.00am – 3:00pm to seniors | 8:15am – 3.00pm to all students.
Closed recess
Open at lunchtime to all students
